On April 25, a tiny, gravely ill kitten named Inky was taken in by Trail of Tails, a local rescue dedicated to saving the most vulnerable cats and kittens. Just 4½ to 5 weeks old, Inky arrived starving, flea-infested, and dangerously
dehydrated. He couldn’t eat on his own, was suffering from severe diarrhea, and had burns so serious that the fur was stripped from his back legs and private area, leaving raw, bleeding skin.
Thanks to the fast action of Trail of Tails and one of its experienced fosters, Inky received round-the-clock care, including bottle feeding, 2:00 a.m. medicated baths, and close monitoring to prevent infection. When a massive cyst suddenly appeared on his shoulder overnight—nearly the size of his head. he was rushed to the vet. The veterinarian, recognizing how fragile he was, took Inky home to personally care for him that night.
Today, Inky is a miracle in motion. Now 14 weeks old, he is full of energy, affectionate to everyone he meets, and thriving under continued foster care. His fur is still growing back, but his spirit has never dimmed. His transformation is a shining example of what’s possible when rescue, medical care, and fostering come together.
But none of this happens without support.
Trail of Tails does not operate a shelter. Every single cat or kitten, like Inky, depends on the dedication of foster homes. These volunteers open their hearts and homes, sometimes taking on medically fragile cases that require constant care. Inky’s story is one of many.
Trail of Tails is currently in urgent need of fosters and donations. Without enough fosters, the rescue cannot say yes to cats in crisis. And without financial support from the community, they cannot continue to provide the medical care, food, and supplies that make survival—and recovery—possible.
Inky’s story could have ended in heartbreak. Instead, it became a story of hope. With your help, Trail of Tails can keep saying yes to the next Inky.
