Hearts with Paws: Laverne, Shirley, and Oz - A Trail of Tails Rescue Story

Sometimes, the tiniest paws leave the biggest prints on our hearts.

Laverne, Shirley, and Oz were just days old when they were abandoned—fragile, scared, and far too young to be without a mother. Their cries echoed the urgency of their need, and Trail of Tails Rescue answered that call. No mother cat to care for them, no warm place to nest—only three helpless kittens and the hope that someone would intervene in time.

That someone was you—through the work we do, made possible only by your compassion and support.

When these kittens arrived in our care, it was all hands-on deck. Around-the-clock bottle feeding. Warmth from heated beds and human snuggles. Emergency vet visits. Medications, deworming, vaccinations, and eventually, spay and neuter surgeries to ensure they start life safe, healthy, and ready for forever homes.

Today, Laverne, Shirley, and Oz are full of life and love—bright-eyed, playful, and affectionate. This week, they’ll take their next big step: heading to a local PetSmart to find the families they were always meant for. Their journey from abandoned to adored is nothing short of a miracle—and it’s a miracle powered by people like you.

But we cannot do it alone.

Trail of Tails is a small but mighty 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue group. We don’t have a facility to work through but work with a network of selfless foster homes. Every cat or kitten we save depends on the available space, on the kindness of strangers willing to open their homes temporarily, and on the generosity of those who can donate.

Here’s the truth: Without donations, we cannot pay for vet care. Without foster homes, we cannot take in another life. Without you, there is no Trail of Tails.

So many more kittens just like Laverne, Shirley, and Oz are waiting—found under porches, in alleyways, or left behind when the world turns cold. We’re ready to help them. But we need your help first.

Can you be the bridge between abandonment and a forever home?

Donate through one of donation options found on our home page.

Volunteer to foster—even short-term fosters save lives.

Can’t foster? If you find a cat in need, we’ll cover the medical care if you can hold them until we can make space.

Share our story. Awareness saves lives too.

Together, we can keep the Trail of Tails open—for Laverne, Shirley, Oz, and every little life still waiting to be found.

Because every life matters. Every pawprint counts. And every heart deserves a home.
